John Legend performed two shows outside The Sound Garden in Baltimore’s Fells Point on Tuesday evening, days after releasing his newest album, “Muse.”
Hundreds came out for the show.
“I feel very honored he gets to come to Baltimore and perform just for this small knit of people and show that we’re and we’re always going to be here to support him,” one fan said.
Another attendee shared their thoughts, saying, “It’s just another dot to the I and cross to the T, so John Legend being here is just an inspiration to us all.”
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott introduced John Legend at the event. After the performances, Legend spoke with a few attendees.
The concert provided a boost to local businesses, according to those in the area.
“Business-wise, we’re grateful for it because it allows us to sell and interact with more people. I’m sure it’s not just us benefiting from it,” Liam Rickards, manager of Kilwins, said.
Laura Mattingly, owner of The Spice and Tea Exchange, shared a similar perspective.
“There’s definitely a trickle effect. We’ve already had people in today. They picked up their album, they are killing time, grabbing tea and spices to take home. So yeah, people are excited and spending time eating, drinking, and shopping here in the neighborhood,” she said.
Organizers said customers who pre-ordered Legend’s new album, “Muse,” on vinyl or CD could secure priority entry to the event by selecting the in-store pickup option.
